The final meeting of GlobDiversity took place on 4 September, with an open session in the afternoon when the project team presented the results of the project. Over 50 people attended to hear presentations about the overall project achievements, users handbook, four use case demonstrations, upscaling activity, and a roadmap for building on the work on RS-enabled Essential Biodiversity Variables in the future. A recording of these presentations is available here.

Agenda:

14:00-15:00: Presentation of GlobDiversity results

15:00-16:00: Open discussions on lessons learnt and outlook

In support of the collaborative efforts of CBD, IPBES and GEO BON to build a knowledge system on the state of and changes to biodiversity, the ESA-funded GlobDiversity project engineered retrieval algorithms of remote sensing variables on the structure and function of terrestrial ecosystems, referred to as Remote Sensing enabled Essential Biodiversity Variables (RS-enabled EBVs).

The project developed 3 RS-enabled EBVs (Land Surface Phenology, Canopy Chlorophyll Content and Ecosystem Fragmentation) with testing on 10 pilot sites selected in key terrestrial biomes, and a scaling-up demonstration on EO exploitation platforms at country scale.

We would like to invite you to the public presentation and share results and experiences with you. Please join our virtual meeting which will take place on 4 September 2020 – 14:00-16:00 CEST on Zoom
